Vista Cove offers many services, among them a full rehabilitation department. We
offer Physical, Occupational, and Speech therapies.
Physical Therapy
Vista Cove contracts with Rehab Care to provide licensed Physical Therapists that
focus on improving coordination, balance, strength, endurance, and joint flexibility
to achieve optimal levels of functional movement. Our goal is to move our residents
toward greater independent mobility. Vista Cove also offers rehabilitation education
for the patients and families as an integral part of all treatment, as well as a home
environmental assessment to ensure safety and function when residents return home.
Occupational Therapy
The focus of our registered and licensed Occupational Therapists is to enable the
patient to adapt their physical and cognitive capabilities to the skills needed in
activities of daily living. Our therapists assess the areas needed to function
independently, and customize a treatment plan that emphasize on balance, strength,
perception, and cognition. Each individualized treatment plan is designed to help
increase muscle strength, coordination, joint mobility as well as reduce pain, prevent
deformities, and increase the resident’s confidence.
Speech Therapy Our licensed Speech Therapists and Pathologists focus on restoring the patient's
ability to communicate. We address communication problems by helping patients
improve skills in speaking, listening, thinking, reading, writing, problem solving, as well as organizing and sequencing thoughts. Also offered are treatment and
management programs for swallowing difficulties.
What types of residents do we treat?
Typical diagnoses include: post-surgical recovery, orthopedic rehabilitation, wound
care, hospice, cardiac rehabilitation, complex medical care, IV therapy, amputation,
Alzheimer's, stroke cases, etc.
The goal of our program is to promote medical stability, enhance cognitive and
physical skills and allow the patient to achieve his/her highest level of independence.

- Critical Illness Polyneuropathy: Patients who have endured a loss of strength
and/or functioning due to an injury or illness are appropriate for admission to
Vista Cove's Rehabilitation Program.
What is the established course of treatment?
A comprehensive course of treatment is established prior to admission. Each plan
includes measurable objectives and timetables to ensure the team member works
together to assist the patient in attaining their highest level of functioning.
The residents' goals are determined by his/her individual needs, cognitive and
physical impairment and options for care.
Therapy up to two times per day, five days per week:
- Physical Therapy
- Speech Therapy
- Occupational Therapy
- Routine/Restorative Therapy
- Activities Therapy
- Basic Hydration
- Total Parenteral Nutrition (TPN)
How are these services paid for?
Vista Cove Care Center at Santa Paula accepts insurance and other third party payers,
Medicare, private funds, and Medi-Cal.
How do I admit someone to the Vista Cove Rehabilitation Program?
Our Admission Team will conduct a thorough assessment of the prospective patient
and discuss their findings with the Case Manager and physician who are in charge of
the care for the patient. Once a determination to admit has been made they will
assist the responsible parties with all the necessary transfer arrangements. |
